PERSONALITY: Although he has gotten better about leaning on others for help and relying on his teammates, at his core, Siegfried is very much a loner. He is the type of person that is prepared to take the blame for something for the sake of keeping others safe, or even if it simplifies matters. For years, he carried the burden of being perceived as a Kingslayer, even allowing his closest students, the other Dragon Knights, to think of him as a betrayer and a criminal. Even after reconciling with his fellow Dragon Knights and exposing the truth of who the real villain was, he typically travels alone. It is typical for Vane, Percival, and Lancelot to work together on achieving a common goal, find themselves in a pickle, and be rescued by a Siegfried appearing from seemingly nowhere. He's basically the epitome of a Deus ex Machina in that respect.
Because he typically travels and works alone, Siegfried is prone to being very secretive, even if he doesn't intend to be. Various other crew members remark on what a mysterious person Siegfried is. The Dragon Knights openly express their frustration to him over his stubbornness on working alone. They wish that Siegfried was more willing to share information with them, because they are a team, after all. Yet, even with his closest friends (Gran, Percival, Vane, Lancelot), Siegfried keeps people at arms' length. His attitude is that of an easygoing, polite man, who rarely lets his anger show or delves too far into his personal issues. He is instead a calming force for others, the rock on the battlefield that helps his comrades stay focused. He easily falls into the "big brother" role and will always put the needs of others before his own. It is very rare that Siegfried will actually talk about his own issues or insecurities. Consider yourself extremely close if he does.
Of course, being a lone wolf can make one very socially awkward. Siegfried is a tried and true workaholic— his priorities will always be defending the people and whatever kingdom is going through troubles. All work, no play. That means Siegfried is prone to doing very embarrassing things, such as remaining in full metal armor at the beach when everyone is relaxing in their swimwear. During his Valentine Day and White Day scenes, he has no idea how this gift-giving thing works despite being a full grown man. He apologizes for not being well-versed in the custom, and his words are sincere and heartfelt, but there's something funny about a 32-year old man being so stiff about Valentines' day.
Despite his social awkwardness, some of the crew members (notably, Lunalu) are attracted to him. That's because even though he's a little strange sometimes, Siegfried is a man of great charisma. That air of mystery really works wonders for him, actually, though his good looks probably don't hurt, either. Even Percival, who is rather prickly, admits that he was fond of and drawn to Siegfried as a young knight. His easygoing nature puts others at ease, and he's confident enough to poke fun at himself and his strange mannerisms. He is kind, loyal, and nurturing, and those traits add to his charismatic aura that others find appealing.
POWERS/ABILITIES: abilities but because GBF powers are JRPG BS:
Siegfried is an expert swordsman, and his specialty is that of Earth magic. He deals in Earth damage attacks, and possesses some resistance to water-based attacks. He can also cast buffs that increase attack for allies and lowers defense for enemies. Another one of his specialties is Wind damage.
Notably, because the blood of Fafnir the dragon was spilled on him after the dragon's defeat, this blood has affected him deeply. He is much more resilient than a normal human, can enter a beast-like state, and heals extremely fast. It is implied that he may be losing his humanity.
